-
Can I join a challenge if I found out late?Yes! While we feature posts weekly, you can participate at any time. Late entries and revisiting old challenges are always welcome, but they will not be reposted in our Instagram account.
-
Can I join even if I can’t submit every week?Of course! LAC is designed to be flexible. Join when you can — whether it’s weekly, monthly, or once in a while.
-
Can I participate even if I don’t use Instagram?Absolutely! You can send your artwork by email to the co-host and still be included in the community features.
-
What type of artwork can I submit?Any kind — from sketches to detailed paintings, in any medium including digital. The goal is exploration, not perfection!
-
Do I need to use all the reference photos? Not at all. Use just one, a combination, or even small elements from the images to inspire your own creation.
-
Can I use my own photo if it’s the same place as the challenge? No. Only the provided reference photos count for participation. This ensures a shared starting point for the community — though you're free to mix elements.
-
Can I interpret the challenge in my own style (e.g., fantasy, different colors)?Yes! LAC encourages personal interpretation and creativity. Just make sure the theme and some reference connection remain visible.
-
Can I post multiple artworks for one challenge?Yes, feel free to explore the theme with multiple pieces. Just make sure to tag them appropriately and post before the deadline for a chance to be featured.
-
I don’t have much time — is it okay to do just a sketch?Of course! You can do as much or as little as you like. A quick sketch or color study is totally valid — it’s about creative habit and joy.
-
When is the new challenge released?Every Friday on the LAC Blog and Instagram — including photo references, a focus point, and the deadline. Subscribe to the newsletter to stay updated.
-
What is the submission deadline?Usually Thursday midnight (CET). If it changes, the updated deadline will be mentioned in the blog post or on Instagram Stories.
-
What happens after the deadline? You can still post your artwork anytime, but late entries won’t be reshared on our Instagram feed. They’re still visible through the hashtag.
-
Where and how do I submit my work?Upload it to Instagram using the hashtag listed in each challenge. You can upload it to the LAC forum.
-
I’m new to art — is this for me?Yes! LAC welcomes everyone — from total beginners to professionals. It’s about joy, growth, and exploration.
-
Where can I get help with drawing or painting?Explore our Painting Tips for guidance on composition, color, texture, and more. Weekly challenge posts also include helpful image analyses.
-
Can I join older challenges?Definitely! Use the Library (organized by theme) or Archive (by week) to revisit any past challenges at your own pace.
-
Where can I see all previous challenges? You can find all past prompts in the Archive (by week) or in the Library (organized by artistic topic). Both are available from the main menu.
-
Can I sell artwork made for the challenge?Yes! Just mention the reference photo co-host as the photographer. Their name is always listed in each blog post and Instagram caption.
-
How do I find out who took a photo from the prompt? Each blog post and Instagram caption lists the co-host and photo credit. You'll also find this in the newsletter, forum, archive, and library.
-
Why join the forum if the posts are on Instagram? The forum stores all high-res reference photos, offers space for feedback, and holds archived prompts. It’s also great for non-social media users.
-
Why subscribe to the newsletter? It’s the best way to stay updated. Every Friday you’ll get challenge info, blog links, and high-resolution images — directly in your inbox.
-
Are there tutorials or learning resources?Yes! The Painting Tips blog and Art Heritage blog include painting tips, and inspiration from art history to support your learning.
-
What is a “focus point” in the weekly challenge? The focus point is a weekly artistic theme — such as light, texture, composition, or color — designed to guide your attention and help you grow specific skills while painting. It’s not a rule, but a learning aid you’re encouraged to explore.
-
Do I have to follow the focus point strictly? Not at all! The focus point is meant to inspire and guide your exploration. You’re free to interpret it in your own way, or even skip it entirely — LAC is about creativity, not restriction.
-
Where can I learn more about the weekly focus points? Each challenge blog post explains the focus point in detail and includes guiding questions and tips. You’ll also find theory posts in the [Painting Tips] section that explore these topics more deeply.
-
I’m new to these topics. How do I start with the focus point?Begin by reading the guiding questions in the weekly post and observing the reference photos. You don’t need to master the topic — just try something new and enjoy the learning process.
-
Can I suggest a focus point for a future challenge?Yes! I love involving the community. If you have an idea for a focus topic (like a concept you’re curious about), feel free to DM or message me on Instagram. per mail or on the forum. I’ll consider it for future challenges.
-
I posted before the deadline but wasn’t reposted. Why?Make sure you followed the full guidelines — including correct hashtag, tagging the account, quality of the photos, and posting on time. Most missed reposts are due to typos or forgotten hashtags.
-
If I follow all the rules, is repost guaranteed? While I try to repost as many artworks as possible submitted before the deadline, reposting is done manually and I can’t guarantee 100%. Once the new prompt is posted (usually Friday 18:00 CET), reposts for the previous week stop.
-
Why must my account be public to be featured?LAC is a community, and reposting allows others to see, comment, and engage with your artwork. Private accounts cannot be seen or reshared by me due to Instagram’s restrictions.
-
How do I increase my chances of being featured on Instagram?Use the weekly hashtag correctly, post before the deadline, and share something meaningful — your creative process, progress shots, reflections, or lessons learned all help your post stand out.
-
I don’t want my post to be shared. What can I do?Simply avoid using the weekly hashtag. Using it means you give consent to LAC to potentially feature your artwork on our Instagram feed, Stories, or Reels.
-
Can I do a Collaboration when posting a Reel?Yes! Just make sure your Reel provides value — like sharing your painting process, thoughts, or tips. Reels that only show the final artwork without additional insight are not accepted for Collab.
-
Can I make a Collaboration post with the LAC Instagram account?Collaboration posts are decided case-by-case. Apart from the co-hosting case, they’re typically offered to long-time contributors who actively support the community by sharing feedback, tips, and participating consistently.
-
How can I get featured in the Instagram feed?Make sure to follow all the steps (weekly hashtag, deadline, public profile) and create something authentic. Tip: sharing your process or interpretation often increases your chance of being featured.
-
What does a co-host do exactly?Co-hosts provide the photo references, introduce themselves, and help keep the challenge running. It’s a fun way to give back to the community! You can apply via the Submission Form.
-
Can I become a co-host?Yes! We’re always happy to welcome new co-hosts. You can find all the details and apply through the Co-Host Application Page on the website.
-
What benefits do I have as a co-host?Co-hosting is a wonderful way to share your favorite places with the community. You’ll be introduced in the post, which helps others get to know you better. You also get a guaranteed Collaboration post, even if you don’t have an Instagram account.
-
The Submission Form allows to upload more than 4 photos. Will all of them be posted? No. The feature to upload more than 4 photos, allows me to choose those, which fit best to each other and the focus point.
-
I submitted photos as a co-host. When will they be used?To ensure variety in location, subject, and artistic focus, I plan the sequence of prompts carefully. Depending on the number of submissions, it may take several months before your photos are selected and scheduled. Thank you for your patience!
-
I have a great idea for a specific week or event. Can I co-host for that particular week?Absolutely! Just let me know several weeks in advance so I can plan accordingly and include it in the schedule.
-
Will I know in advance which week my photos will be posted?Yes, I’ll contact you via Instagram DM to let you know the preselected week. Your confirmation is required before the schedule is finalized.
